30 Wild Days: day 10 – pumpkins

I’ve promised little un for a long time we’d try and grow a pumpkin for Halloween.  This year we got around to it, and there is much excitement that three out of four shoots are visible.

There is,  of course,  the obvious Halloween connection. And who could forget good old cinderella and her pumpkin coach.

The name of Jack-O-Lantern comes from the marsh lights or willow the wisps (or round here spunkies) the lights that lead unwary travellers off the safe path.

Ours have some way to go before that, maybe I’ll have to post them again in October if we get that far!
